They say we won’t realize the importance of anything until we lose it . Well , I think the only thing whose importance we realize even when they exist is grandparents . The first pleasure of a grandparent is when they hold their grandchildren in their arms . The first encounter of a child with real pain is when he loses his grandparent . The purest bond that exists is the one between the grandparent and the grandchild .
The only person who can teach one the meaning of true , selfless love is a grandparent. The simplest role of being one is the most vital one . For all the inspiration a child needs , they are always there . Sometimes their actions might tend to spoil them , but they won’t . One thing every child looks forward to every summer is visiting them . The best ingredient of our childhood is the love our grandparents always showed us .
Each and every smile of his among the wrinkles he had . All his pain vanished every time he saw me . The sparkle and excitement his eyes reflected in the simplest of things . The simple pleasure he got in a packet of “bourbon biscuits “ and the overwhelming happy gasps he gave when we ate those orange candies . The joy on his face when he narrated those happy old incidents he once had experienced.
Those memories I have of him , each one of them worth more than gold . I just can’t imagine how rich could I have been if he was still here . I wish his body could have been as immortal as his soul . I wish the walls can experience once more the bright sparkles of his smiles and the great pleasures of his mere existence!
